- Work backward. An Aug 15 trip on a 6-month window opens around Feb 15. Put that morning in your calendar.
- Be logged in, card saved, before the minute turns. Many Colorado releases are 8 a.m. Mountain; verify on your campground’s page.
- Try booking the last night first, then extending. It sometimes beats fighting for the whole weekend. Know the stay rules.

Sites in one campground vary wildly: creekside or next to the parking lot, shaded or baking. Five minutes of homework:

- Campsite photo sites and trip reports often show the exact view from the pad.
- The usual winners: outside-edge sites, sites backing to water or meadow, and walk-ins if you don’t need the drive-up.
